SANDUSKY, Ohio – A Cedar Point traffic employee suffered severe injuries in a hit-and-run accident in the amusement park’s main parking lot, Sandusky Police reported. The incident occurred shortly after the park closed at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 10, near pole 28-A.
According to the police report, the employee was struck by a Cadillac Escalade while he was bent over picking up an item from the ground. A witness at the scene described hearing the victim shouting at the SUV to halt as it was running him over. Despite the pleas, the vehicle continued, running over both of the victim’s legs before fleeing the scene.
The eyewitness approached the vehicle, attempting to confront the driver by yelling and informing him of the accident. However, the driver reportedly ignored the witness and drove away without stopping. The witness managed to take a photo of the suspect’s vehicle and its license plate, which has been crucial in the ongoing investigation.
The vehicle is registered to a woman in Southgate, Michigan, though the driver was described by the witness as a male with possible facial hair, accompanied by a female passenger.
Sandusky Police are currently collaborating with Cedar Point to analyze surveillance footage from the parking lot to positively identify the driver and further investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. The condition of the injured employee has not been disclosed as the investigation continues.
