Twinsburg City School District to Host Community Conversation on Building Project

Twinsburg, OH – The Twinsburg Board of Education is inviting the community to a vital discussion regarding the Tiger Legacy Project. This project, which includes significant renovations and construction within the district, will be the focus of a Community Conversation on Wednesday, May 29th, at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Twinsburg High School.

The Board of Education recently conducted three significant meetings on April 16th, May 7th, and May 20th, where a comprehensive report from the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) was reviewed. The findings revealed that four out of the district’s five schools, except Twinsburg High School, need renovations costing 66% or more of the cost to build new facilities. This situation falls under the “2/3rds Rule,” suggesting that constructing new facilities may be more beneficial than continuing costly repairs.

Urgent upgrades are also needed for the district’s athletic facilities. This spring, emergency repairs were made to the track at Tiger Stadium, and further upgrades are necessary to maintain safety standards for student athletic and community events. The turf at Tiger Stadium, now nearing ten years old, is also due for replacement.

In light of these findings, the Board is considering a bond levy this November to fund the following key projects:

  • Construction of a new PK-6 elementary school.
  • Relocation of Tiger Stadium to the campus of Twinsburg High School.
  • Moving athletic fields to the Dodge property.

Board President Lea Travis emphasized the importance of community input in these decisions, stating, “Our schools are a vital part of our community, and we need to ensure they are safe, functional, and conducive to learning. The input we receive from our community members will be crucial in making the best decisions for the future of our district.”

The Board of Education encourages all community members to attend this important meeting to learn more about the Tiger Legacy Project and to ask any questions. Your participation is key as we evaluate the best path forward for our district.
