Heartless Act on Ridge Road: Geese Run Over in Hinckley

Hinkley, OH – Residents of Hinckley and surrounding areas are expressing outrage after a disturbing incident was reported on Ridge Road. Mike White, a local resident, witnessed a heartless act where a driver in a small white car deliberately ran over a flock of geese attempting to cross the road, resulting in the death of two geese.

The incident occurred on Ridge Road, where White was mowing his lawn about 300-400 feet away. Due to the distance and the speed at which the incident happened, he was unable to capture any identifying details of the vehicle or its driver. However, White acted promptly by moving the injured and dead geese off the road and reporting the incident to the Hinckley Police Department and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

White’s social media post quickly gained attention, garnering over 100 reactions and numerous comments expressing shock and sadness. Local residents condemned the act, labeling it as heartless and cruel. Pamela Smith from Grand Bay of Brecksville commented, “Omg—so heartless. This makes me so very sad. Karma. Why???? Very sad.”

Other commenters, such as Jeannie Honsinger from Medina, OH, emphasized the importance of reporting such incidents to the police. “Did you call the police? I would have, and given them a license plate number. You can’t purposely kill them,” she said. Several others echoed this sentiment, lamenting the lack of a license plate number but praising White for taking action to report the incident.

According to the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Canada geese are protected under federal law, making it illegal to harm or kill them. The community hopes that the person responsible for this act will be brought to justice.

White, who described this as his first-ever social media post, expressed his dismay and hoped that the attention would lead to some form of accountability. “I’ve never been one to air anything in the ether nor do I care much for whatever content exists from whomever but this incident impacted me and I wanted to share it with the hope that enough people get to thinking about what this p.o.s. did and maybe… just maybe karma will get its due,” he shared.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident or the driver to come forward and help with the investigation. The community remains united in its condemnation of this senseless act and hopes for swift justice.
