Chipotle’s Burrito Vault Game Returns With More Than $1 Million in Free Burritos Ahead of National Burrito Day

Popular chain revives digital word game with bigger prizes for National Burrito Day – including free burritos for a year – amid strong growth and expansion

March 31, 2025 – Chipotle Mexican Grill announced today the return of its wildly popular digital game, “Burrito Vault,” offering up to 157,500 Buy-One-Get-One free entrĆ©e codes and other prizes in celebration of National Burrito Day on April 3rd, as the company continues its strong market performance and expansion plans.

The interactive competition, inspired by the popularity of digital word games, challenges players to guess the exact burrito order combination, ingredient by ingredient. Last year, the game was played more than two million times with prizes claimed in under 20 minutes.

How to Play and Win

Starting today at 9:00 am ET through Wednesday, April 2nd at 11:59 pm ET, Chipotle Rewards members in the U.S. and Canada can visit UnlockBurritoDay.com to access the game. The first 2,500 members who successfully crack the code each hour will receive a Buy-One-Get-One (BOGO) entrƩe offer to use on National Burrito Day.

New this year, the first player to unlock the Burrito Vault each hour will win free burritos for an entire year. Additionally, fans who unlock the vault after all the BOGO codes have been distributed will receive 25 rewards points in their Chipotle Rewards account (available once during the campaign, while supplies last).

“Last year, our Burrito Vault drove unprecedented fan engagement that resulted in our highest digital transaction day of all time,” said Chris Brandt, Chief Brand Officer at Chipotle. “Now, we are giving them another chance to crack the code and score more free burritos.”

Game Changes for 2025

This year, Chipotle has made some adjustments to the game format. The winning code to the Burrito Vault will change every hour to spread the prize drops throughout the duration of the game, giving more customers a chance to win.

With over 53 real, fresh ingredients and more than one billion possible burrito order combinations, Burrito Vault highlights Chipotle’s customizable menu in celebration of National Burrito Day.

Additional National Burrito Day Offer

For those who don’t score a BOGO through the Burrito Vault game, Chipotle is also offering a $0 delivery fee promotion. On National Burrito Day, April 3rd, all Chipotle Rewards members can enjoy free delivery when ordering via Chipotle.com, Chipotle.ca, or the Chipotle app with code DELIVER.

Strong Growth Continues

Despite recent false rumors circulating online about potential closures, Chipotle continues to demonstrate robust financial health and aggressive expansion plans. The company reported a 14.6% year-over-year revenue increase in 2024, with over $2 billion in cash reserves and zero debt.

“The claim that Chipotle is closing restaurants is false,” a Chipotle spokesperson recently clarified. “The false information stemmed from an inaccurate online article confusing Chipotle with a venture it tested in 2023.”

Far from closing locations, Chipotle plans to open between 315 and 345 new restaurants in 2025, with at least 80% featuring the company’s drive-thru “Chipotlane” service. This expansion builds on the company’s 2024 growth, when it opened 304 new locations while closing only five underperforming stores.

Players can visit UnlockBurritoDay.com and enter the email associated with their Chipotle Rewards account to begin playing. The promotion runs from March 31 at 9:00 am ET through April 2 at 11:59 pm ET.

Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. operates over 3,700 restaurants across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Kuwait, and United Arab Emirates as of December 31, 2024. The company recently dispelled false rumors about closures, confirming plans to open 315-345 new restaurants in 2025, with at least 80% featuring Chipotlanes.
