The U-Haul location at Snow Road in Parma Heights has officially closed its doors after serving the community for 47 years. As of March 31, 2025, the location at 5809 Stumph Road has ceased all business operations.
This long-standing facility had been a fixture in the Parma Heights community since 1978, providing moving trucks, equipment, and services to countless residents. Unfortunately, the closure has resulted in seven team members losing their positions.
What’s Next for the Property?
While operations have ended, U-Haul plans to maintain ownership of the two buildings situated on the one-acre lot. The company intends to lease the property rather than sell it, suggesting the location may eventually host new businesses.
Options for Local Customers
Customers who previously relied on the Snow Road facility can find moving and storage solutions less than a mile away at U-Haul Self-Storage of Parma, located at 10701 Brookpark Road.
Why Do Locations Close?
U-Haul, like many companies, regularly evaluates its locations based on multiple factors. The company explains that closures can result from:
- Long-term strategic planning
- Safety and security concerns
- Physical limitations of the site
- Demographic shifts
- Staffing availability
- Migration trends
- Expansion of neighborhood dealer networks
- Proximity to other U-Haul locations
- External factors beyond the company’s control
Now celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2025, U-Haul continues to be the leading choice for DIY movers throughout North America. With over 23,000 rental locations across all 50 states and 10 Canadian provinces, the company has established a significant presence in the moving industry.
The U-Haul mobile app has made renting easier than ever, enabling customers to access U-Haul Truck Share 24/7 for self-dispatch and return options using their patented Live Verify technology.
Years of customer patronage have allowed U-Haul to expand its fleet to impressive numbers: 193,100 trucks, 138,700 trailers, and 40,200 towing devices. Beyond moving equipment, the company has grown to become the third-largest self-storage operator in North America, managing over one million rentable units and approximately 89.6 million square feet of storage space.
The company has also diversified its offerings, becoming the top propane retailer in the United States and the largest installer of permanent trailer hitches in the automotive aftermarket industry.
