Eddy’s Bike Shop Returns to Peninsula With New Location After Devastating Fire

A beloved local business is pedaling back to Peninsula after tragedy struck earlier this year. Eddy’s Bike Shop has announced they will resume bike rentals starting Friday, April 11th at their new location, just steps away from where their historic building once stood.

The original Peninsula location was undergoing renovations ahead of the 2025 cycling season when it was destroyed by fire in late February. The building, which dated back to 1893, was a historic landmark in the Peninsula community and a staple for visitors to Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

“We have heard your concerns about rentals in the CVNP and we can finally announce that rentals will be available starting Friday April 11th!” the company shared in a social media post yesterday. “While the old location was unable to be saved, the amazing people in Peninsula helped us find a location we believe will be perfect for the cyclist in this area.”

The new shop will be located at 1655 Mill Street W in Peninsula, with the same phone number (330-657-2209) as before.

Jimmy Ruggles, the owner of Eddy’s Peninsula location, had only opened his “dream shop” about a year ago before the fire. The bike shop’s return comes just in time for the spring cycling season, providing a crucial service for both locals and tourists looking to explore the national park on two wheels. The shop’s location near the Towpath Trail makes it a convenient starting point for cyclists of all skill levels.

For Peninsula and the surrounding communities, the reopening represents resilience and community support following the loss of a historic structure. The new location ensures that visitors to Cuyahoga Valley National Park will still have access to quality bicycle rentals for exploring the park’s extensive trail system.

The announcement concluded with enthusiasm for the upcoming season: “Get ready for an Ohio summer on two wheels!
