Layne’s Chicken Fingers is targeting a May opening for their first Ohio location in Parma. The Texas-based chain will open in the former Boston Market space at 1350 W. Pleasant Valley Road, occupying a 2,860 square foot location with a 10-year lease signed in August 2024.

CEO Garrett Reed believes Ohio is a perfect market for their comfort food concept, stating “Ohio just kind of fits with us… We serve comfort food, really good chicken fingers, and we look at the demographics in Ohio and we’re like these are our people.” The Parma location will serve as their introduction to the Northeast Ohio market.
The restaurant was originally scheduled to open in January, then pushed to April before settling on the current May timeframe. The company didn’t face major challenges with the Boston Market conversion, as they previously completed a similar transformation in Pittsburgh, with most needs being cosmetic renovations.
According to Elliot McDonald, Layne’s director of operations, the company is already planning further expansion in Northeast Ohio: “Once we have our feet on the ground, we’re actively searching for more properties. We currently have a couple in the works in the Cleveland area and are going as far south as Akron/Canton.”
About The Restaurant
Founded in College Station, Texas in 1994 by Mike Layne, the chain specializes in hand-breaded chicken tenders. Mike Garratt took full ownership in 1999 after buying into the company in 1997. Current CEO Garrett Reed was part of a group that purchased the business in 2017 with franchise expansion plans.
Their menu features hand-breaded chicken tenders (original or spicy), golden crinkle-cut fries, Texas toast, and their signature Layne’s sauce. They also offer chicken sandwiches, including a Chicken Club with brisket bacon and American cheese, along with wraps, grilled cheese, and hand-spun milkshakes.
According to their company description, “Layne’s is a fast food restaurant chain that’s been serving up unbelievable flavor since 1994. Texas born and breaded, Layne’s is on a mission to bring its small-town charm, friendly service, iconic chicken fingers and secret sauce to the rest of the world.”
