Sagamore Hills and Northfield Village police departments handled multiple incidents over the Memorial Day weekend, including an impaired driving arrest, an underage drinking party, and a casino altercation.
A 21-year-old Sagamore Hills woman was arrested Sunday morning after crashing her vehicle on Chaffee Road in the Ashford Glen neighborhood. Police responded at 7:41 a.m. to the single-vehicle collision and subsequently charged the driver with operating a vehicle under the influence, operating without reasonable control, driving with a suspended license, and OVI refusal with a prior conviction within 20 years. The woman was processed and appeared in court.
Saturday evening brought police to the Oak Knolls community pool area after receiving noise complaints about juveniles possibly consuming alcohol. When Sagamore Hills officers arrived at the Canyon View Road location around 10:07 p.m., multiple young people fled the scene. Officers discovered open containers scattered around the pool area and cited several juveniles who remained for underage alcohol consumption and unruly behavior. The parent who had reserved the pool facilities was notified of the violations.
Earlier Saturday, Sagamore Hills police assisted Parma authorities with a welfare check at a gas station on E Aurora Road. Officers located a vehicle whose driver had reportedly threatened self-harm and transported the individual to a local hospital for evaluation.
Police also responded to a domestic dispute on S Gannett Road Saturday afternoon, though no arrests were made in that incident.
In Northfield Village, police made an assault arrest following a physical altercation at MGM Northfield Park early Wednesday morning. Officers responded to the gaming floor at 4:55 a.m., identified the primary aggressor, and transported a man to Stow Municipal Court on assault charges.
A routine traffic stop Friday night on Northfield Road resulted in drug-related charges when officers observed suspicious behavior during the equipment violation stop. A K9 unit provided a positive indication, leading to a vehicle search that uncovered narcotics. The female driver received citations for drug paraphernalia and rear illumination violations. The seized substances were sent for laboratory analysis.
Police also investigated a reported domestic dispute on May Avenue Tuesday but determined the call was unfounded after investigation.
