While many lost dogs find their way back to their owners each week, dozens of others remain at the facility waiting for a second chance. To address this, County Executive Ilene Shapiro is launching the “You Lucky Dog!” adoption event to streamline the process for residents looking to add a furry member to their family.
Affordable Adoption Costs During the You Lucky Dog! Adoption Event
Finding a new best friend is more accessible than ever this month. From March 3 through March 31, 2026, the standard adoption fee of $94 has been slashed to just $28. This promotional price is designed to lower the barrier for adoption while ensuring the animals go to prepared and loving homes.
Executive Shapiro noted that while reunions are a primary goal of the facility, the ultimate mission is ensuring every dog in the county has a safe place to sleep. By reducing the financial burden on adopters, the county hopes to see a record number of successful placements during the “You Lucky Dog!” adoption event.
