Cruiser Struck by Impaired Driver on State Route 8 On June 23, 2026, at approximately 9:46 PM, a Northfield Village police officer in a marked cruiser was stopped at a traffic control device on Route 8 southbound at Valley View Road. The officer observed a set of headlights approaching rapidly from behind before the oncoming vehicle struck the rear of the cruiser. The impact caused minor damage to the police cruiser and functional damage to the striking vehicle. A Macedonia police officer responded to the scene to assist after dispatch was notified. The subsequent investigation revealed that the driver was operating the vehicle under the influence. Due to jurisdictional boundaries, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) was called to the scene to take over the accident report and statement from the officer. SCSO took the driver into custody and arranged for the vehicle to be towed. No injuries were reported, and the Northfield Village case is considered closed. Retail Larceny and Juvenile Diversion at Sunoco Officers were dispatched to the Sunoco station on Northfield Road on June 22, 2026, at approximately 8:34 AM following a report of two females who stole alcohol and fled the establishment without paying. Following an immediate investigation, the store manager successfully recovered the stolen items. The manager explicitly stated they did not wish to press formal charges against the suspects, who were identified as juveniles. The police department closed the case without further action. Residential Criminal Mischief on Roosevelt Drive On June 23, 2026, at 10:30 PM, police responded to a property on Roosevelt Drive regarding a complaint of criminal mischief. Responding officers discovered graffiti fresh on the resident’s garage door. Preliminary information was gathered from the homeowners at the scene, and an active investigation remains ongoing to identify those responsible. Additional Blotter Activity and Incidents Disabled Vehicle (Milford Drive / Ledge Road): On June 16, 2026, at 7:25 PM, an officer responded to a report of a stuck vehicle. The vehicle was found bottomed out due to improper road grating left behind by a construction company. While in custody, the individual made suicidal statements and was transported to Metro Main Campus under an emergency hospitalization pink slip. The warrant remains active. Medical Assist: Emergency personnel responded to Northfield Village Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation on June 19, 2026, at 12:24 PM regarding an unresponsive female. A formal report was filed.
