MACEDONIA, Ohio (June 30, 2026) — On Friday, June 26, 2026, Mayor Nicholas Molnar issued an Order in his capacity as Safety Director and Mayor temporarily ceasing all fiber optic directional boring work occurring within the City of Macedonia. This action was taken to protect residents of the City, local businesses, and those passing through the City. Mayor Molnar’s Order allows for appropriate public agencies, officials and third parties to review the recent incidents in Twinsburg Township and New Franklin involving gas lines and assess whether regulations can be implemented or other actions taken — locally and statewide — to help prevent the reoccurrence of such events. Although the City of Macedonia already has extensive requirements in place within its Codified Ordinances to help ensure proper fiber optic installation, the City will assess whether these regulations can be further updated to enhance public safety.
