Good morning — it’s Sunday, July 5, and summer is in full swing across Northeast Ohio. Take a few minutes with your coffee to catch up on what moved locally overnight. In Macedonia, construction is visibly advancing on the city’s new Service Center and adjoining salt dome along Valley View. Crews report the project is on schedule and city officials expect both buildings to be completed by year’s end. The build is part of the city’s 2026 capital plan and was supported by service-center bonds included in this year’s budget, a buy-now infrastructure step many leaders say will centralize maintenance operations and improve winter road response. Across the hill in Sagamore Hills, a new dining option is set to arrive this summer: La Mesa, an authentic Mexican buffet from owner Joaquin Montiel. Montiel, who brings 32 years of restaurant experience, plans a 116-seat venue offering regional Mexican dishes that are rarely seen in Northeast Ohio. The concept aims to be more than a taco stand — menu notes preview a range of regional specialties and an all-you-can-eat buffet format that should add a new flavor to the local restaurant scene. There were no new bulletin board notices in the last 24 hours to pass along — nothing on community events, road closures, or public meetings was posted overnight. We’ll keep monitoring for updates on public hearings around the Macedonia project and a confirmed opening date and menu preview from La Mesa as Montiel finalizes preparations. If you live, work, or dine in Northeast Ohio, these are the local stories to watch this week: Macedonia’s service projects moving toward a winter finish and Sagamore Hills getting a sizable new restaurant with a rare regional menu. We’ll follow both closely and bring you specifics as they become available. Stay tuned and stay informed — we’ll be back tomorrow with another roundup of the news that matters to our neighborhoods.
