Longwood Manor Historical Society Gears Up for TV Debut and Summer Rummage Sale

The Longwood Manor Historical Society will hold its July meeting on Tuesday, July 28, starting at 10 a.m. at the manor. Members plan to focus on preparations for the upcoming rummage sale along with other business items. The June meeting minutes will also be up for acceptance at the gathering. Television crew heading to the manor LMHS has a big opportunity coming up before that meeting even happens. New Day Cleveland approached the historical society about featuring a live segment on the show. The broadcast is scheduled for Friday, July 24, during the 10 a.m. hour on Channel 8. Organizers will get a four minute window to spotlight the manor, including the opening of its second floor. The segment will also give the society a chance to promote the rummage sale and other upcoming activities. A filming crew is expected to arrive at the manor by 9:30 a.m. that morning to prepare. Residents are encouraged to tune in and record the segment. Open house and rummage sale dates An open house will follow on Sunday, July 26, running from 1 to 4 p.m. Community members interested in touring the property are invited to stop by during those hours. Planning is also underway for the group’s rummage sale, which will run across two weekends in August. Sale dates are set for Friday, August 7 and Saturday, August 8, followed by Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22. Item drop offs will be accepted on Tuesdays and Fridays leading up to the sale. Volunteers still needed Organizers are asking the community to pitch in wherever possible. Many hands make light work, and the society is hoping local residents will step up to help with sorting, sale prep and staffing the event days ahead.
