Suspect Remains at Large After Fleeing Traffic Stop in Bath Township

The Incident The Bath Township Police Department is working with the Fairlawn Police Department on an investigation after a theft suspect fled on foot during a traffic stop Monday. The stop happened around 5:30 p.m. after a theft was reported at a business in Fairlawn. Officers pulled over the suspect vehicle following a brief pursuit. The driver was arrested at the scene without incident, but the passenger ran from the vehicle before officers could take him into custody. The Search Police from Bath Township, Fairlawn, Richfield Village, Copley Township and the Medina County Sheriff’s Office searched the surrounding area for the suspect. Crews used a drone and a police canine team to help track him down. Additional officers from the participating agencies also assisted in the search. Despite the resources deployed, the suspect was not located. Investigators now believe the suspect has left the immediate area. Bath Township police say they will keep an increased patrol presence nearby while detectives continue to follow up on leads. Description and Tip Line The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 23 years old, with long brown or blond hair. He was last seen wearing blue shorts and no shirt.
