Ravenna Police Report Arrests Tied to Domestic Violence, Drugs and Protection Orders

Ravenna Police released a booking report covering July 7 through July 20. The report lists arrests and citations tied to domestic violence, drug possession, protection order violations and impaired driving. Several juveniles were also taken into custody during the period. Domestic Violence and Disorderly Conduct Officers arrested a woman on a domestic violence charge on July 15 after responding to a report of trespassing. Investigators said the woman and another person share a child together, and a disagreement between the two led to a biting injury. A man was arrested on a domestic violence charge on July 20 after officers were called to a Mechanic Avenue home for a reported assault. The man and the other person involved had lived together and were previously in a relationship. According to the report, the man threw a lit cigarette that struck the other person, then struck their hand during an argument. A woman received a citation for disorderly conduct on July 11 after officers were dispatched for a report of a woman yelling outside a home in the King Street area. The citation followed an earlier dispute over the way a man had been driving. A woman was arrested on July 13 after officers found her outside Ravenna City Hall. She faces charges of theft, disorderly conduct and littering. The report states officers had previously warned her to remove a mattress from a tree lawn along South Sycamore Street. A man was cited for telecommunications harassment on July 7 after continuing to call and text another person following a warning from officers to stop. Protection Order Violations Three separate protection order violation cases were logged during the period. On July 7, a man was arrested after a former partner reported repeated texts and voice messages despite an active protection order. Officers confirmed the order and that the man had been served with it. A man was jailed on July 9 after officers responded to a report of misuse of the 911 system. The report states he was found on the property of a person protected by an active order against him. A warrant was issued for a man on July 17 after the protected person in his case said he sent her concert tickets and attempted to obtain her email address through her daughter and the daughter’s grandmother. Officers said an active protection order remained in place. Drug and Weapons Arrests A juvenile was arrested on July 9 following a search warrant on Mill Road. Officers seized THC, marijuana, suspected methamphetamine and paraphernalia during the search, along with the juvenile’s electronics. Charges include trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs, extortion, sexual extortion and tampering with evidence. The report also states the case involved allegations that the juvenile obtained a nude image of another minor and threatened to share it unless further requests were met. The juvenile was booked into the Portage County Juvenile Detention Center. Officers arrested another juvenile on July 13 after investigating a report of a juvenile carrying a firearm. A loaded handgun was found in his pocket while he was located in a city park. He was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and released to a parent. A man was arrested on drug possession charges on July 15 after officers found him unresponsive in a parked vehicle. A search turned up methamphetamine paraphernalia. On July 16, a man was arrested on a felony drug possession charge following a traffic stop that also turned up active warrants. Officers said a K9 alert led to methamphetamine pipes found inside the vehicle. An OVI arrest followed on July 20 after officers found a man slumped over the wheel of a vehicle stopped in traffic. Drug paraphernalia was found in plain view, and a substance recovered from the scene tested positive for methamphetamine. Obscenity Charge A man was arrested on July 10 on a pandering obscenity charge. Investigators said the charge stemmed from a telephone harassment case in which he sent a link to a website depicting sexual conduct involving animals. Theft and Property Crimes A woman was arrested on July 10 on a theft charge after admitting to taking a package delivered to a Cedar Avenue address. The package contained medical equipment belonging to the intended recipient. A summons was issued to a man on July 16 for theft after a witness reported he took a trash can belonging to another resident nearby. A woman was arrested on July 20 on a theft charge after taking another person’s wallet while inside a store. OVI and Traffic Arrests A man was arrested on July 11 following a single vehicle crash involving utility poles, trees and a street sign.
