Barberton, OH — Summit County officials are teaming up to help residents fight back against online fraud with a free, interactive event this weekend focused on digital safety and scam prevention. On Saturday, June 14 , from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM , County Executive Ilene Shapiro , Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich , Sheriff Kandy Fatheree , and County Councilwoman Bethany McKenney will host the Outsmart the Scam Workshop at Barberton Middle School (477 4th Street NW, Barberton). The two-hour event includes three tailored breakout sessions from 10:30 to 11:30 AM , allowing attendees to learn based on their comfort level with technology: Digital Basics – For beginners Elevate Your Digital Skills – For intermediate users Exploring Advanced Tech – For advanced users Each session will be led by digital navigators from the Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority (AMHA) , with support from Fairlawn Gig and the Summit County Office of Information Technology . After the sessions, an optional Q&A from 11:30 AM to Noon will give attendees time for personalized, one-on-one support. Pre-registration is encouraged but not required.
