Power Outages Hit Northeast Ohio Amid Heat Wave

Nearly 50,000 FirstEnergy customers are experiencing power outages across northeast Ohio as of 2:50 p.m. today amid dangerous heat wave conditions. The heat index is expected to reach 105-110 degrees through Wednesday. Rolling blackouts may occur in the impacted area on 90-minute intervals and could continue for up to 12 hours, depending on system demand and repair progress. The rolling blackouts would specifically affect areas around Brittain Road and Eastwood Avenue, including Brittain Road between Evans Avenue and East Market Street, and Eastwood Avenue between Arlington Avenue and South Avenue. FirstEnergy has increased staffing for 24/7 response and is encouraging customers to conserve energy during peak hours. Vulnerable residents are advised to seek cooling centers or stay with family until power is restored.
