Fraud and Financial Crimes Scam Victim Reports Loss of Nearly $6,000 Dunbar Court - Sept. 29, 12:51 p.m. A resident reported falling victim to a scam that resulted in the transfer of $5,975.50 to another bank. The victim believed they had been caught up in fraudulent activity involving a bank transfer. Warrant Services Outstanding Warrant Served on Emerald Court Emerald Court - Sept. 30, 4:52 p.m. Officers served a warrant on a 21-year-old woman. Summit County authorities had issued the warrant, and confirmation was received that it remained active. The individual was advised and released after the warrant service was completed. Felony Warrant Arrest on South Aurora Road South Aurora Road - Oct. 2, 12:38 p.m. A man was taken into custody on a felony warrant. Officers contacted North Olmstead authorities regarding the warrant before booking and fingerprinting the individual at the station. He was subsequently released. Second Felony Warrant Arrest South Aurora Road - Oct. 2, 9:07 p.m. In a separate incident, officers received confirmation from Cuyahoga Falls regarding an outstanding warrant. The individual was located with an invalid or suspended driver's license. After being transported to the station, officers met with authorities from Cuyahoga Falls. The individual was later cleared from custody and released. Suspicious Activity Concerning Letters Left at Fox Run Trail Residence Fox Run Trail - Sept. 30, 5:11 p.m. A resident discovered unsettling letters placed on her mailbox, front door and garage door. The messages, allegedly from the resident's son's ex-girlfriend, claimed the son owed money. Information was collected and documented in the incident report. Medical Emergency Death Investigation on Brighton Drive Brighton Drive - Sept. 30, 10:24 p.m. Officers responded to a report involving an 85-year-old woman. During the response, officers observed a vehicle approaching on Brighton Drive at a high rate of speed. The situation was classified as a death investigation. Traffic-Related Incidents Traffic Stop on Lena Drive Lena Drive - Oct. 6, 9:21 a.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 GMC. The driver's license was found to be suspended. The vehicle was towed and the driver received a citation for driving under suspension. Multiple Traffic Violations on Chillicothe Road South Chillicothe Road - Oct. 6, 11:55 a.m. A traffic stop resulted in charges of driving under suspension and FRA non-compliance. Officers observed a blue Toyota Corolla and determined the owner's license was suspended. The vehicle was towed and the driver was transported to jail. Domestic Violence Disturbance Call on Aurora Hudson Road Aurora Hudson Road - Oct. 5, 9:26 p.m. Officers responded to a domestic violence incident where a woman reported her intoxicated stepfather was yelling at everyone. The caller indicated a man with a gun was upstairs. Officers secured multiple firearms from the residence, including a Glock 43X 9mm, a Hipoint rifle, a Springfield Saint rifle, and a Palmetto State Armory rifle. A man was detained and transported to jail. Summit County EMS was requested to the scene. Officers completed the booking process and cleared the scene around 10:29 p.m. Domestic Incident on Moneta Avenue Moneta Avenue - Oct. 6, 11:54 p.m. Police were called to a domestic violence situation. A caller attempted to cancel the police response while on the line but refused to provide identifying information. Officers responded and worked with Summit County authorities to gather statements. The incident extended into the early morning hours of Oct. 7. Mental Health Responses Crisis Intervention on Nautilus Trail Nautilus Trail - Oct. 5, 8:50 p.m. Officers responded to a mental health crisis involving a woman who had just returned home. The situation involved a possible self-harm incident with broken glass. The woman had jumped out of a vehicle and was exhibiting signs of distress. Officers worked with mental health professionals and the individual was transported for evaluation. A second call came in later reporting the same individual was crying and running away. Officers requested emergency medical services and continued monitoring the situation into the early morning hours. Public Assistance Lost Phone Search on Emerald Court Emerald Court - Oct. 2, 8:32 p.m. A woman reported losing her phone and was using the "Find My iPhone" feature to track it. Officers assisted in the search and located the phone in a black Honda Accord in the area. Officers spoke with the individual in possession of the phone, who became upset during the conversation. The phone could not be immediately retrieved as the person in possession planned to file a claim through AT&T. Telecommunication Incidents Inappropriate Call Investigation Barrington Town Square Drive - Oct. 1, 10:38 a.m. Officers responded to the front desk where a complainant reported receiving inappropriate contact from an unknown caller using a burner phone.
