GATES MILLS , Ohio – The latest Gates Mills police reports detail a variety of calls, including a fall assist, a 911 hangup, a single-vehicle crash that severed a utility pole, and an arrest on a warrant following a traffic stop. Utility Pole Crash Tops Recent Gates Mills Police Reports On Dec. 1 at 8:08 a.m., officers responded to a single-car accident on Chagrin River Road. A 39-year-old woman driving north on slippery roads went off the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole, severing it. EMS evaluated the driver for a minor injury at the scene; she was not transported. She was cited for failure to control, and a report was taken. Fall Assist on West Hill Drive On Nov. 30, a West Hill Drive resident requested help lifting a 74-year-old woman who had fallen. The woman was assisted and was not injured. 911 Hangup Traced to Phone Issue Also on Nov. 30, a 911 hangup was traced to a residence on Woodstock. Officers checked the home and found everything OK, determining there were problems with the phone line. Ammunition Turned In for Disposal On Dec. 2, a Berkshire resident turned over old ammunition to an officer for safe disposal. Suspicious Person Identified as Utility Worker On Dec. 3, a Chestnut Run resident reported a suspicious man walking around the street. Officers located the man and identified him as a gas company worker checking meters. The situation checked OK. Traffic Stop Leads to Custody on Warrant On Dec. 4, officers stopped a 38-year-old Lorain man for speeding on Mayfield Road. He was found to have an active non-child-support warrant out of Lorain County. He was taken into custody, transported to the Solon jail on behalf of Lorain County, and held for pickup.
