SOLON , Ohio – Fleeing: Driver Reportedly Goes 81 mph In 25 Zone, Later Turns Himself In Incident: Fleeing and Eluding Report number: 2025-002203 Date/time: Dec. 8, 9:03 a.m. Location: Aurora Road near Richmond Road A patrolling Solon officer reported seeing a silver Infiniti sedan traveling east on Aurora Road near Richmond Road. According to the report, the car allegedly used the center turn lane to pass another eastbound vehicle, in an area posted 25 mph. The officer used radar and documented the car’s speed at 81 mph in the 25 mph zone . The officer activated lights and siren and attempted to make a traffic stop. The vehicle did not slow down and reportedly continued eastbound at a high rate of speed. For safety reasons and because she lost sight of the vehicle, the officer discontinued the pursuit. Officers followed up and conducted an investigation to locate the suspected vehicle. They ultimately found a silver Infiniti matching the description parked at an Amazon warehouse facility in Glenwillow. Further investigation reportedly linked the vehicle to a male Amazon employee and, according to police, evidence showed he was the driver during the initial incident on Aurora Road. Police say the suspect later agreed to turn himself in at the Solon Police Department. A 25-year-old Bedford Heights man was arrested and charged at the Solon Jail with Fleeing and Eluding (F4) . He was also cited for: Speeding (minor misdemeanor) Improper Passing (minor misdemeanor) Window Tint (minor misdemeanor) Police noted that the vehicle was not towed and was left at the location. Theft: $600 In Vapes Reported Missing From Gas Station Incident: Theft Report number: 2025-002204 Date/time: Dec. 8, 10:13 a.m. Location: Circle K, Aurora Road Solon officers responded to a reported theft at Circle K on Aurora Road. A manager told police that she discovered approximately $600 worth of Breeze brand vape products missing from behind the sales counter. The manager suspected an employee might be responsible. According to the report, Circle K uses staff supplied by Shiftsmart , a third-party staffing or “temp” agency, to help when the store has staffing shortages. The investigation indicated that the primary suspect was a Shiftsmart worker assigned to the store. After reviewing the circumstances, officers identified a 24-year-old Cleveland man as the suspect. A warrant was issued for his arrest on a charge of Theft (M1) . No injuries were reported, and the case was documented for further court action. OVI: Speeding Stop Leads To Drunk Driving Charge Incident: Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence (OVI) Report number: 2025-002234 Date/time: Dec. 12, 11:45 p.m. Location: Aurora Road near Liberty A Solon officer on patrol reported observing a gray Mazda SUV headed east on Aurora Road near Liberty late in the evening. Radar showed the SUV allegedly traveling 54 mph in a 35 mph zone . The officer initiated a traffic stop. When the driver rolled down the window, the officer noted an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver, according to the report. The man denied having anything to drink. The officer requested standardized field sobriety tests. Police say the driver’s performance on those tests was poor, and he was placed under arrest for suspected OVI and transported to the Solon Jail for a breath test. At the jail, the man either would not or could not provide a sufficient breath sample for analysis, leading to an administrative driver’s license suspension. A 40-year-old Aurora man was charged with: OVI (M1) Speeding (minor misdemeanor) The Mazda SUV was towed from the scene. Scam: Resident Loses $4,000 After ‘Apple’ Security Message Incident: Scam / Fraud Report number: 2025-002237 Date/time: Dec. 13, 5:45 p.m. Location: Solon Police Department, Solon Road A 73-year-old Solon man came to the Solon Police Department to report what officers categorized as a scam or fraud. He told officers he had been having issues with both his phone and his computer. During that time, he received what appeared to be a message from “Apple” claiming there was a security breach on his accounts or devices. The message reportedly provided a phone number and urged him to call in order to fix the issue. The man said he followed the instructions and, during the supposed troubleshooting process, was asked to supply some of his banking information . Shortly afterward, he noticed that multiple bank accounts had been drained of approximately $4,000 , and he was still experiencing computer problems. Police documented the incident and advised him that a written report was necessary for him to pursue reimbursement or dispute the fraudulent charges with his financial institution.
