Aurora Police Respond to Retail Theft, Dog Bite and Missing Person Case

The Aurora Police Department responded to a wide range of calls between July 22 and July 27, according to the department's Incident Daily Summary. Reports ranged from theft and fraud to domestic disturbances, a dog bite and a welfare check. NEOhio News does not name residents involved in police reports. Theft and Fraud Officers took a theft report from Coach Outlet on South Chillicothe Road on July 22. A report filer said the theft happened on Sunday and estimated the loss at $1,572.90. A police report was requested. On July 27, a resident on Colony Drive reported a fraud charge of about $150 on a credit card. The case remained pending as officers gathered information. Domestic and Disturbance Calls A neighbor dispute unfolded on Moneta Avenue on July 22 after a caller said a man had parked a camaro on their property and that a rottweiler was loose in the area. The man moved the vehicle off the grass before officers checked the area and confirmed everyone was okay. Later that week, on July 23, a caller on the same street reported hearing two male voices yelling in what sounded like a domestic dispute. Officers spoke with several people at the scene, who each said the exchange was verbal name calling and that both parties had already left. The call was documented with no further action. A workplace dispute on South Chillicothe Road on July 25 led to a report after a caller said a coworker had shoved her. Statements were collected from a victim and a witness, and the other party had left before officers arrived. Officers said they would follow up with the subject. A domestic dispute on Manchester Road on July 26 involved a mother who said her adult son was calling her names and had thrown items across the room. The mother told dispatchers she was scared and wanted him removed from the property. Officers confirmed there were no weapons involved and that the man was not intoxicated. Responding officers said the two agreed to stay apart from each other for the night and that the situation remained nonphysical. On July 27, a disturbance call on West Parkway Boulevard turned out to be a disagreement between a couple delivering an Amazon package. The male involved got out of the vehicle to calm down, and officers transferred the call for documentation. Traffic and Public Safety A traffic complaint on Harmon Road on July 24 described a possible road rage incident. A caller said a driver in a yellow Bronco got into her face and stated he had threatened her after the two vehicles followed one another home over what appeared to be a traffic related dispute. Officers said the man may have been intoxicated and checked nearby routes but did not locate the vehicle. Juvenile Incidents Officers checked the area of Lake Trail on July 24 after a caller reported a group of teens breaking glass in front of an address. Two juveniles told officers they were leaving for the night and confirmed a random glass bottle had been broken and cleaned up. That same night, a caller on Trails End reported three younger males trying to access the community party center. Officers made contact and identified the juveniles involved. Welfare and Medical Calls Officers responded to Fairington Oval on July 22 after a caller reported finding a 93 year old woman unresponsive and cold to the touch in a bedroom. Squad personnel confirmed the death at the scene, and the patient was later turned over to police units. On July 24, officers responded to a welfare check on Lakeland Way involving a 26 year old man who had recently returned from rehab and was reportedly causing a disturbance. The caller said the man was under the influence of drugs and wanted officers to help mediate. He was transported by squad for evaluation. A missing person report came in from Woodland Trace on July 27 after a father said his 21 year old son had walked away from the home about 30 minutes earlier. Officers searched the area, and the young man's father later found him near a medical building on Route 82. Officers stayed nearby until he felt comfortable returning home. A dog bite was reported on Lake Avenue on July 26 after a 3 year old boy was bitten on the hand by a rottweiler that wandered into the yard from a neighboring property. The child's mother left with him before officers or squad personnel arrived, and police worked to reach the dog's owner. Property Crimes and Warrants A woman wanted on a Ravenna grand jury warrant was picked up from the Strongsville jail on July 23 after officers coordinated the transfer. She also faced an additional misdemeanor warrant. Later that day, a trespassing complaint on Moneta Avenue led officers to place a person on a mental health hold after the individual became distressed. Officers said the situation was resolved and documentation was completed.
