Gates Mills Police Handle Accidental Alarms, Dog Bite, Wandering Juveniles

Gates Mills police officers responded to a string of calls over the last week of July and into August, ranging from accidental alarms to a dog bite and a lost purse. No arrests or citations were reported in connection with any of the calls below. Accidental Alarms Keep Officers Busy Overnight Two separate calls in late July turned out to be false alarms. On July 26, a 911 call came in from a Cardinal Lane residence. The responding officer confirmed the call was accidental and checked the home, finding everything in order. A day later, on July 27, a medical alert activation came from a Gates Mills Estates residence. An officer confirmed that alert was also accidental, and EMS was cancelled before arriving. On July 31, officers responded to a similar alarm at a Gray Eagle Chase residence. A landscaper working at the property confirmed the alert had been triggered by accident. Amazon Driver Bitten by Dog on Battles Road On July 28, an Amazon Flex driver reported she was bitten by a dog while delivering a package to a home on Battles Road. Nobody was home at the time of the delivery, and the driver transported herself for care for a minor injury. The property has a package drop off point at the end of the driveway, along with posted no trespassing signs that were overlooked during the delivery. Officers filed a report on the incident. The breed of the dog was not identified. Missing Juveniles Located Near Wilson Mills Park On July 29, Gates Mills officers assisted Mayfield Village police after two juveniles were reported missing near the Wilson Mills Park trailhead. The children had become separated from their parents while at the park. Officers were called off before arriving, since the parents located the juveniles on their own. Purse Returned After Being Found on County Line Road On August 1, a pedestrian turned over a purse she had found along County Line Road. An officer located identification inside the purse and delivered it to a home in Chesterland. None of the contents were missing, and officers assisted as needed to reunite the owner with her belongings.
