Hudson police investigate assault, fraud and reckless driving cases in latest report

Hudson police released their incident report covering August 11 through August 24. The report lists calls ranging from assaults and property crimes to traffic stops, missing person cases and animal complaints. Below is a category by category look at what officers responded to during the two week period. Assaults and domestic incidents An assault report came in on August 13 after officers were dispatched to a residential living facility on Laurel Lake Drive. A second assault was reported on August 19 at an assisted living facility on West Streetsboro Street. A domestic situation on Bradford Way turned physical on August 16. Police say a suspect struck his ex wife in the face, causing visible injury. Officers also handled domestic calls on Darrow Road on August 20, on Middleton Road on August 21 and outside a church on North Main Street on August 23, where a couple had been arguing. On August 11, a woman told police her ex boyfriend had been contacting her, her friends, her parents and her employer, claiming she was on drugs. That call was classified as telecommunications harassment on Blue Heron Drive. Property crimes, fraud and criminal mischief A fraud report came from a resident on Wren Haven Drive on August 11. That same day, an employee reported being threatened while at work, a complaint that was filed at the police station on South Main Street. Criminal mischief reports were filed on Ashley Drive on August 14, near Barlow Road and Abbyshire Drive on August 15, and near Barlow Road and Terex Road on August 20. A possible burglary attempt on Norton Road was reported on August 23, though the incident had actually occurred around 3 a.m. that morning. Property damage was reported at a parking area on Village Way on August 16, at the police station on Ravenna Street on August 19, and on State Route 8 Northbound the same day, where a vehicle sustained a damaged windshield. A traffic stop on August 24 near Aurora Street and North Hayden Parkway led to the discovery of an active civil protection order between the driver and a passenger. The order was confirmed through the Summit County Sheriff's Office. Traffic stops and road incidents Two separate traffic stops, on West Streetsboro Street on August 11 and near Barlow Road and Terex Road on August 12, ended with drivers found to be without a valid license. A third stop on August 17 near Hudson Drive and Hudson Gate led to a citation and a tow after the driver was found to be under multiple suspensions. A reckless operation crash was reported near Boston Mills Road early on August 20. Separately, a report of a derailed train on Stow Road turned out to be a train that was simply stopped and blocking the roadway. Missing persons and welfare checks Officers responded to Hemingway Court on August 14 after a juvenile made suicidal statements. A missing adult and juvenile were reported from a Paderborne Drive address on August 16. Two more missing person cases followed on August 22. One came from Kate Circle, and a second involved a 17 year old who had left a Steepleview Drive residence without contact. Also on August 22, officers gave an elderly man a ride home from North Main Street and helped reunite a girl with special needs with her family after the two became separated. Medical calls and animal complaints A sudden death was reported at an assisted living facility on Omni Lake Parkway on August 12. On August 15, officers responded to a business on Hudson Crossing Parkway after an armed security guard suffered a panic attack. A combative elderly patient prompted a medical assist call at Laurel Lake Drive on August 16, and on August 19 a patient who had fallen from a roof on Parmelee Drive refused medical treatment. Animal calls kept officers busy across town. A sick raccoon was euthanized on Redwood Boulevard on August 13, a wounded raccoon was reported on Regan Court on August 17, and an injured raccoon that had fought with a resident's dog was euthanized on Huntington Road on August 18. An injured Canada goose was euthanized near Darrow Road and Terex Road on August 22. Officers also fielded dozens of additional calls during the period for suspicious activity, noise complaints, civil disputes and disabled vehicles throughout Hudson.
