Stow, Ohio Police Report Domestic Violence Arrests and Fraud Cases in Weekly Log

The Stow Police Department, serving the Summit County city of Stow in Northeast Ohio, released its weekly incident log for Aug. 18 through Aug. 25. The report lists 40 total cases spanning domestic violence, fraud, theft and juvenile complaints. Some incidents ended in arrest, while others were closed, ruled unfounded, or remain under investigation. A category by category look at the week's activity is below. Domestic Violence Two domestic violence cases led to arrests during the reporting period. Officers responded to a domestic incident on Ritchie Road on Aug. 19 that included an allegation of strangulation. Another arrest followed a domestic violence call on Fishcreek Road on Aug. 21. A third domestic incident, reported on Darrow Road on Aug. 24, carried no listed disposition. Fraud and Identity Theft Fraud complaints accounted for a significant portion of the week's cases. Identity fraud was reported and closed on Liberty Road on Aug. 18, and a related theft complaint on Echo Valley Drive was closed the same day. A second identity fraud case surfaced on Allen Road on Aug. 21. Telecommunications fraud, a scheme that typically involves scammers contacting victims by phone, was reported on Fishcreek Road on Aug. 22 and again on Hillside Trail on Aug. 23. Theft and Larceny Theft remained the most frequent complaint type in Stow last week. A motor vehicle theft on Darrow Road was logged Aug. 4, and separate theft reports came from Maplehurst Drive on Aug. 7 and Seasons Road on Aug. 14. Officers closed a deception related theft case on Kent Road on Aug. 18 and a vehicle theft on Commerce Drive on Aug. 19. Shoplifting was reported on Kent Road on Aug. 19, though the victim was listed as reluctant to pursue charges. A second Kent Road shoplifting case on Aug. 21 resulted in an arrest. A theft reported on Hudson Drive on Aug. 22 remains open. Property Damage and Mischief Criminal mischief was reported on McTaggart Road on Aug. 18. A separate criminal damage complaint on Graham Road that day was ultimately ruled unfounded. Police closed a vehicle trespass and criminal damage case on Allen Road on Aug. 18, and a fourth criminal mischief complaint came from Fishcreek Road on Aug. 20. Juvenile Complaints Complaints involving juveniles were filed on Orchard Drive on Aug. 18, Stockbridge Drive on Aug. 20, Kent Road on Aug. 21 and Stone Meadow Run on Aug. 24. A juvenile complaint on Fishcreek Road on Aug. 22 led to an arrest and included allegations of underage tobacco and alcohol use. Harassment Reports Telecommunications harassment complaints from Cox Drive and Heatherwood Court were both closed Aug. 19. A third harassment case from Brockton Drive was closed Aug. 20. Drug, Alcohol and OVI Cases Near Villas Drive and Graham Road, an OVI stop on Aug. 19 led to an arrest after a breath test came back above the legal limit. A welfare check on Elmhurst Drive on Aug. 21 turned into a drug possession and paraphernalia complaint. Police made an arrest for an open container violation near East Steels Corners Road and Herman Drive on Aug. 23, and a narcotics complaint was logged near State Route 8 and Graham Road that same day. Other Incidents Logged Several smaller cases rounded out the week. A menacing complaint on Kent Road and an endangering children complaint on Kent Road were both logged Aug. 18, and a dog running at large complaint from Brockton Drive was closed the same day. A K9 unit was called out Aug. 19. Disorderly conduct tied to intoxication was closed on Lakepoint Corporate Drive on Aug. 20. Arrests followed a warrant service on Fishcreek Road and a separate incident near Fishcreek and Darrow roads, both on Aug. 24.
