Gates Mills Police Respond to Crashes, Welfare Check and Dog Assist

Traffic Accidents Officers responded to the area of Gates Mills Boulevard and Som Center Road on Monday afternoon for a two vehicle crash. Both vehicles were traveling on Som Center Road when the crash occurred. The driver of a GMC truck was turning right onto Gates Mills Boulevard when the driver of a Ford Escape attempted to pass the truck on the passenger side. The Ford Escape driver was cited for the accident. Property Damage Officers responded to the area of Wilson Mills Road and Chagrin River Road on Wednesday afternoon after a report that a truck struck a utility pole and brought down wires. Investigators determined the truck never actually hit the pole. Instead, the height of the truck's trailer caught overhead wires and pulled them down, snapping the pole in the process. The roadway was closed for repairs, and driver information was collected for the report. Welfare Checks Officers checked on a resident on Glen Echo Drive on Tuesday afternoon after a neighbor reported seeing an open door at the home. They found the side door slightly ajar with nobody home. The exterior of the home checked out fine, and officers later reached the resident and advised her of what neighbors had reported. Community Assistance Officers helped a Battles Road resident on Friday afternoon load her sick ninety pound dog into her vehicle. The resident was unable to manage the task alone, and officers were able to lend a hand.
