Stow Police Report Arrests in Domestic Violence, OVI and Drug Cases

Stow police logged well over one hundred calls during a three week stretch spanning Aug. 18 through Sept. 8, according to weekly report logs obtained from the department. The city, located in Summit County along the Route 8 corridor, saw theft, fraud and disorderly conduct make up the bulk of the activity, while a handful of more serious cases resulted in arrest. Addresses below are limited to street names. Violent and Domestic Cases Officers responded to at least eight domestic incidents during the period, with two leading directly to arrest. One case on Ritchie Road on Aug. 19 included a strangulation allegation, and a second on Fishcreek Road on Aug. 21 resulted in a domestic violence arrest. A closed case on Tall Grass Circle on Sept. 3 involved an allegation of knowingly causing physical harm. The remaining domestic calls, spread across streets including Darrow Road, Arndale Road, Celia Drive, Elmhurst Drive and Wexford Boulevard, did not list an arrest. Sex Offenses Five sex offense cases appeared across the three reports. Two of the most serious, a gross sexual imposition case on Bridgewater Parkway and a rape case on Allen Road, were reported on consecutive days in early September. A pandering case involving a minor on Hillside Trail remains under investigation, along with reports filed on Commodore Drive and King Drive. Impaired Driving and Alcohol Police made four OVI or drunkenness arrests during the period, including one near Villas Drive and Graham Road and another on Kent Road with a breath test result above point one seven. Liquor law arrests followed calls near Steels Corners Road and Fishcreek Road, and a handful of public intoxication cases were logged on Graham Road in both Stow and neighboring Cuyahoga Falls. Theft and Fraud Theft and larceny were the most common calls in the logs, with more than twenty reports ranging from shoplifting to vehicle break ins. Kent Road accounted for a large share of those calls, including two cases in which warrants were later issued. Fraud reports, many tied to telecommunications scams or misused credit cards, were filed on streets including Fishcreek Road, Hillside Trail and Berkley Place. Disorderly Conduct and Juvenile Calls Disorderly conduct calls appeared nearly every day of the reporting window, several tied to intoxication or fighting. Graham Road and Kent Road saw the most repeat activity. Juvenile complaints also ran throughout the period, with several arrests involving underage drinking, tobacco use or marijuana possession on streets such as Greenlawn Drive and Stow Road. Property Crime and Trespassing Criminal damage and trespassing complaints were filed on more than ten streets, including Graham Road, Darrow Road and McTaggart Road. Most were closed without an arrest, though a case on Allen Road also included charges of unauthorized vehicle use and vehicle trespass. Drugs, Weapons and Other Calls Narcotics arrests were made near state Route 8 and Graham Road, and a weapons law violation arrest followed a separate stop in the same area. Rounding out the period were a missing persons case on Fishcreek Road, a handful of animal complaints, and two K9 call outs.
