Gates Mills Police Cite Suspended License, Confirm Accidental Calls and Assist in Drug Arrest

Speeding Stop Leads to License Citation On September 6, a Cleveland man was stopped for speeding on Cedar Road at Som Center. Officers learned during the stop that he was driving under a suspended license. He was cited for both the speeding violation and the suspended license. A licensed driver removed the vehicle from the scene. Officers Assist Disabled Vehicle On September 8, an officer helped the driver of a disabled Mustang on Riverview Road at Chagrin River. The vehicle was pushed off the roadway and later removed by its owner. The call was classified as assisted. Accidental 911 Calls Confirmed Two separate 911 hang up calls came in during the reporting period. On September 9, a call was received from the Gilmour Academy soccer field. Responding officers made contact with the student who placed the call and confirmed it was accidental. A second hang up call came from a Chagrin River Road residence on September 11. Officers confirmed on arrival that this call was also accidental. Mailbox Damage Reported on Old Mill Road A Chesterland motorist called police on September 10 to report striking a newly erected mailbox in the 7600 block of Old Mill Road. She told officers the mailbox was sticking out into the roadway and that her vehicle sustained damage in the collision. The post office was already aware of the mailbox placement, and the incident was documented. Multiagency Pursuit Ends in Custody On September 11, Gates Mills officers assisted the Geauga County Sheriff's Office during a pursuit that entered the village. The vehicle had been traveling westbound on Mayfield Road before it was involved in the chase. It came to a stop on Mayfield Road at Old Cord Lane. Gates Mills officers arrived on scene and assisted with traffic control while several units responded. The Geauga County Sheriff's Office took the driver into custody as part of a narcotics investigation. Gates Mills police assisted as needed throughout the incident.
