Fall is shaping up to be a busy season in Stow. City officials are preparing to dedicate a new memorial honoring police and fire personnel. Crews continue work on two major road projects. Public Safety: New Memorial Honors First Responders Stow will officially dedicate its new First Responders' Memorial on October 1 at 4 p.m. City leaders selected the Stow Safety Building at 3800 Darrow Road as the memorial's permanent home. An open house immediately follows the ribbon cutting, giving residents a chance to tour the building and meet the teams who serve the community. The event runs until 7 p.m. Designers built the memorial around a central monument and a bronze sculpture depicting a police officer and firefighter. A seating area invites visitors to reflect, while the surrounding architecture emphasizes integrity, service and commitment. Notably, the city incorporated its existing September 11 Memorial into the new site, including a section of steel I beam salvaged from the World Trade Center. "We are proud of the men and women who serve our community every day," said Mayor John Pribonic. "The Open House is a great opportunity for residents to meet our Safety Forces and see firsthand the dedication and preparation that goes into protecting our community." Liberty Road closed to through traffic on September 8 between Darrow Road and Highland Avenue while crews replace an existing culvert. City officials expect that closure to last approximately three weeks. A second project is underway on Young Road, where PMC Concrete began installing new sidewalks on the east side between Duquesne Drive and Norton Road. That work also started September 8. Traffic on Young Road is currently limited to one lane with temporary controls in place. Officials estimate the sidewalk project will take four to five weeks, depending on weather conditions. Economic Development: New Businesses Set Ribbon Cuttings Two new businesses are preparing to open in Stow this fall, and the Stow Munroe Falls Chamber of Commerce has confirmed dates for both ribbon cuttings. Prime IV Hydration and Wellness will celebrate its opening on October 28 at 4294 Kent Road. The wellness studio adds to a growing roster of health and beauty businesses in the area. APRICITY Salon follows with its ribbon cutting and grand opening on November 13 at 3744 Fishcreek Road. Chamber members and local officials typically attend these ceremonies to welcome new businesses into the community. Chamber News: Fall Foodie Tour Underway The Stow Munroe Falls Chamber of Commerce kicked off its annual Fall Foodie Tour this month, running throughout October. This year's lineup includes 17 participating restaurants and eateries across the area.
