Domestic Violence, Drug Trafficking and a Reported Rape Mark Three Weeks of Stow Police Activity

Northeast Ohio residents keeping tabs on public safety in Stow now have a fuller picture of the city's activity this month. The Stow Police Department released three consecutive weekly incident logs covering September 1 through September 21. Names are never included in these logs, and specific house numbers have been left out below to protect resident privacy. Violent Crime Reports Stand Out Two sex offense cases drew attention early in the reporting period. A gross sexual imposition case involving force was logged on Bridgewater Parkway on September 1. Just one day later, a rape report citing force or threat of force came from Allen Road. A third sex offense case tied to Westminster Lane was closed, though the incident itself was dated months earlier. Domestic violence calls also appeared throughout the logs. Officers responded to reports on Tall Grass Circle, Genevieve Boulevard, Arndale Road, Darrow Road, Steels Point Drive and Silverwood Drive. A warrant was issued in the Arndale Road case, while the Genevieve Boulevard call was marked with a reluctant victim. Simple assault reports came from Cox Drive, L'Ermitage Place and Hudson Drive. An arrest followed the Cox Drive incident, which listed a statute for knowingly harming a victim. Drug and Weapons Arrests Cluster Near Graham Road The SR 8 and Graham Road corridor generated repeated narcotics and weapons activity across the three weeks. Arrests tied to drug law violations were logged on September 13, 14, 18 and 21, with one September 18 case citing drug trafficking specifically. A separate arrest that day near SR 8 and Seasons Road involved marijuana possession. Weapons law violations were reported twice in the same general area. Officers arrested one individual for possession related weapons charges on September 5, and a second arrest on September 9 involved a concealed weapon along with expired license plates. OVI arrests were scattered across the city. Locations included Young Road, the intersection of Wyndham Ridge Drive and East Steels Corners Road, the SR 8 and Graham Road area, and Arndale Road at Stow Road. Theft and Fraud Remain Frequent Calls Shoplifting continued to drive much of the theft activity along Kent Road, with arrests recorded on September 1, 8, 9, 14, 15 and 19. Warrants tied to earlier Kent Road theft cases were also issued during the period. Fraud complaints, mostly telecommunications related, came in from Darrow Road, Lakepoint Corporate Drive, Kent Road, Wetmore Street, Young Road, Fishcreek Road, Graham Road and Laurel Woods Boulevard. Several additional theft reports were closed without an arrest, including calls from Fishcreek Road, Hudson Drive, Wyndham Ridge Drive and Bridgewater Parkway. Burglary and Property Damage A burglary was reported on Hanna Road on September 16, one of the more serious property crimes listed in the three week span. Vandalism to an occupied structure on Williamson Road was closed on September 8. Criminal damage and mischief complaints also came from Cheval Circle, Fishcreek Road, L'Ermitage Place, Whippoorwill Trail and Chestnut Drive. Most of those cases closed without an arrest on record. Disorderly Conduct, Juveniles and Harassment Disorderly conduct calls, frequently tied to intoxication, were reported across Graham Road, N Norman Drive, Kent Road, Fishcreek Road, Berger Avenue, L'Ermitage Place and Gangl Drive. An arrest followed a fighting and threatening case on Graham Road on September 2. Juvenile complaint arrests came from Elmwood Avenue, Tall Grass Circle and Graham Road. Telecommunications harassment reports, meanwhile, arrived from Mallard Avenue, Oxbridge Lane, Bryn Athen Drive, Waxwing Trail, Wyndham Ridge Drive, Hudson Drive and Meadowbrook Boulevard, with the Meadowbrook case referred to the prosecutor. Traffic, Welfare Checks and Other Calls A traffic accident on September 15 was listed as pending prosecution and included statute descriptions for endangering children and improper child restraint use. A missing persons case opened on Fishcreek Road on September 5 remained open at the time the log was printed. Officers also logged a welfare check on Kent Road, a casualty call on Sowul Boulevard and a medical call on Allen Road. Liquor law arrests, largely open container violations, were recorded near SR 8 and Graham Road, on Stow Road and at Darrow Road and Uniondale Drive.
