Rocky River Road Work Nears Finish Line on Some Projects as New Ones Get Ready to Start

Rocky River has a long list of construction projects in progress this fall. The city released its latest update on Sept. 28. Several projects are close to done. Others will begin in the coming weeks. Projects Underway Lake Road and Clifton Boulevard corridor: Crews are working between Linda Street and the bridge over the Rocky River. Recent work included curb installation on the north side, between the ALT Route 6 off ramp and the bridge. Upcoming work includes partial depth pavement repairs, sewer and water relocation, and underdrain installation. Work also continues in Lakewood. Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction between Linda Street and Webb Road in Lakewood. The Marion Ramp from Detroit Avenue to Lake Road and Clifton Boulevard remains closed. Some sidewalks, crosswalks and bike lanes are also closed, so pedestrians and cyclists should follow posted detours. Construction began in April and is expected to continue through next September. The Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works owns and manages the project. Cornwall and Beachcliff: Sewer and water line replacement is underway on Cornwall and Beachcliff, from Cornwall to Avalon. The project also includes resurfacing, traffic calming, pedestrian crossing upgrades and a new sidewalk between Avalon and Beachcliff. Water main work on Cornwall and the western part of Beachcliff is nearly done. Water service tap work on Cornwall was expected to begin the day after the update. Beachcliff Boulevard is one way from west to east between Falmouth and Cornwall. Projects Nearing Completion Center Ridge Gateway: Paving is finished, and pavement markings are installed or almost done. New landscaped medians and trees are in place. A new traffic signal at Goldwood Primary School is installed but not yet working. Remaining tasks include signal and light pole work and finishing touches. Drivers may still see temporary lane restrictions. Glendale, Westmoor and Orchard Grove: All sewer work, water main work and water service work is complete. Concrete pavement has been poured on both sides for the full project length. Crews are now starting driveway apron and sidewalk restoration. Asphalt work will follow, and some driveways will be temporarily blocked. Contractors or inspectors will notify affected owners in the field. Residents can email cvasco@rockyriverohio.gov to join the project update list. Wooster and Parkview gas main: Enbridge Gas is nearing substantial completion. The city will walk the area with the company to check restoration work. Cleveland Water lead service lines: This year's restoration work is complete or nearly complete. The city is working with Cleveland Water to pick streets for 2027 and later. Affected residents will be notified directly. Wooster and Shoreland Park: The park is substantially complete and open to the public. It turned a vacant property on Shoreland Avenue at Wooster Road into a neighborhood park with benches and landscaping. Buckingham, Arundel and Argyle Oval: All sewer, water, roadway, sidewalk, paving and landscaping work is finished. The contractor, Fabrizi Trucking & Paving Company, and the city are handling final closeout items. Projects Starting Soon Rockcliff Drive: City Council awarded the project to DiGioia Suburban Excavating. Crews are expected to mobilize the first week of October. Work includes a new water main, new sanitary and storm sewers, full pavement reconstruction and new curbs and driveway aprons. A raised pedestrian crossing will connect to the Cleveland Metroparks trail. The city is still coordinating with Cleveland Water and Cleveland Metroparks on a few items before work begins. Bradstreet's Landing: The Spencer Creek restoration will improve stormwater management and restore the floodplain. It also adds path improvements, seating and interpretive features. Council awarded the contract to V3 Companies. Mobilization is expected in early October, and construction starts Oct. 19. Lake Road sewer, water and repaving: Fabrizi Trucking & Paving Company submitted the low bid. Council is still considering the award. The project replaces the water main from the Bay Village line to Parklawn. It also rebuilds sewers from Parklawn to the Service Garage drive. A road diet would shrink the north side of the roadway by about five feet. That space would allow a concrete multiuse trail from the Bay Village line to Avalon Drive. A new parking lot across from Bradstreet's Landing would have 21 spaces, one trailer space and two signalized crossings. Construction is expected to begin in November. Lake Road will be one way from west to east for the full project length. Future Projects Northview and Jameston: A public information meeting is set for Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall. Residents can review plans and share feedback. Construction is expected to start next year. The city is also studying traffic calming on Northview Road, including chicanes and speed table
