Wetland Preserve Moves Forward, Burlington Sign Sent Back and Tacos Mexicanos Withdraws in Macedonia

City Council — Macedonia

Macedonia moves forward with wetland preserve acquisition as Burlington sign and Tacos Mexicanos plans face setbacks.

More than 115 acres of high quality wetland moved a step closer to city ownership on Oct. 19. The Macedonia Planning Commission granted a key exception tied to a land gift from DALM Land Ltd. to Western Reserve Land Conservancy. The conservancy plans to start restoration work before the property is eventually deeded to the city. About 75 of those acres carry Ohio’s highest wetland rating, and the owners hope to close Nov. 10 once City Council ratifies the decision. Burlington’s new “Deals. Brands. WOW!” storefront sign did not fare as well. Members found it too tall and too large under Macedonia Commons standards, so the request was continued to November. Tacos Mexicanos also withdrew its plan to paint its brick white. A Fairfield Inn proposed for the former Knights Inn site was pushed back again as well.
