North Canton Police Investigate Overnight Shooting That Left Teen With Hand Wound

North Canton police are investigating a shooting that left a juvenile with a gunshot wound to his hand early Thursday, Oct. 22. At about 3:39 a.m., officers were called to a home in the 1000 block of Liberty Lane Avenue NW. A mother had dialed 911 to report that her son had been shot and needed medical help. Officers Found the Teen Outside the Home When officers arrived, they found the boy and his mother outside the residence. He had suffered a gunshot wound to his hand. The juvenile was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police did not release information on his condition. Limited Information From the Juvenile During the early stages of the investigation, the juvenile gave officers limited information about what happened. He said he was with two other people when the shooting occurred. However, he did not identify them or say where the shooting took place. Search Warrant Served at the Residence Investigators then worked to determine the location and circumstances of the shooting and to identify those involved. As part of that effort, a search warrant was executed at the home. Members of the Stark County Sheriff’s Office assisted, along with a K9 unit from the Canton Police Department. No Ongoing Threat to the Public Based on the information available so far, investigators said they have found no indication of an ongoing threat to the public.
