Just before 8 a.m., detectives attempted to make contact with a male subject associated with a residence in the 500 block of Eagle Street as part of an ongoing investigation. The man barricaded himself inside a vehicle and claimed to be armed. Fairport Harbor Police and the Lake County Sheriff's Office responded to assist. The man was taken into custody without further incident. Upon his arrest, officers discovered the man was in possession of a CO2 pistol designed to fire chemical rounds — not a conventional firearm as he had claimed. The investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available. — Information provided by Det. Lt.
