Sources say the iconic MGM lion statue is headed to MGM Grand Detroit. When the doors reopen April 22, the property will operate under its new name: Northfield Park Racino . Use Your MGM Rewards Credits Before April 20 This is urgent for frequent visitors. Once the property transitions away from MGM, credits in the MGM Rewards program will no longer be redeemable at the Northfield location. Members should redeem any outstanding points, slot dollars, or free play before the April 20 closure. Your Players Club Is Getting a New Name — But Your Status Stays The MGM Rewards players club is being replaced by a new program called NP Rewards . Members will need to pick up a new NP Rewards card at the NP Rewards Desk when they visit — card numbers and PINs will change. The good news: all existing status, points, and benefits transfer automatically to the new program. Tier level names are also changing, though a member's actual standing does not change: Sapphire → Classic Pearl → Elite Gold → Premier Platinum → Icon Noir → Legacy The earning period remains unchanged, running Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2026. Tier status for 2027 will be based on play during that same window. New program benefits are expected to be announced later in 2026. A Few Other Changes to Know The familiar TAP Sports Bar has been renamed Overtime Grill & Bar . The menu and sports experience remain the same. A new Sportsbook is also coming to the property, though a specific opening date has not been announced. Now Hiring Under new ownership, Northfield Park Racino is actively recruiting across its gaming, dining, and entertainment operations. How We Got Here MGM Northfield Park has been the top-grossing gambling venue in Ohio since it opened in December 2013 — first as Hard Rock Rocksino, then rebranded by MGM Resorts International in 2019. MGM Resorts agreed to sell the property's operations to Toronto-based private equity firm Clairvest Group for $546 million in cash. The underlying real estate is owned by VICI Properties, which entered into a new 25-year lease with Clairvest at an initial annual base rent of $53 million. Clairvest also operates Meadows Racetrack & Casino in Washington, Pennsylvania, and Century Casino in Edmonton, Alberta.
