Good Saturday morning — as spring settles in across Northeast Ohio, here’s a quick local catch-up to get your weekend started. In education and community recognition, ten Aurora High School students were honored as finalists at the Maltz Museum’s Stop the Hate Awards for essays on social justice and what it means to be an upstander. The recognition highlights local youth leadership and Aurora schools’ emphasis on civic engagement. Aurora’s Party at the Barn at 945 Bartlett Road has rolled out a full spring and summer calendar of family-friendly programming. Upcoming offerings include Bunny Yoga, a Baby Animal Spring Fest, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebrations, plus Junior Farmer experiences designed for kids — a good reminder to reserve spots early for popular events. Looking ahead to community fundraising, the North Summit Lions Club will host its annual Golf Outing on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Fox Den Golf Course in Stow. The scramble format includes a shotgun start at 9:00 AM, 18 holes with cart, and both a box lunch and dinner provided as part of the entry — proceeds support Nordonia Hills community programs. On public safety, local police blotters flagged several incidents: Sagamore Hills officers investigated a telecommunications harassment complaint and made a late-night traffic stop that led to an arrest on an outstanding warrant, with events occurring April 9–12. Ravenna police reports for April include investigations into felony burglary, domestic violence and identity fraud. Drivers should also note the Summit County OVI Task Force will run sobriety checkpoints across the county beginning Friday night, April 24 into early Saturday, April 25 — expect increased enforcement and plan rides ahead of the weekend. In sports, the Nordonia Varsity Knights rolled to an 11–5 win over the Solon Varsity Comets Thursday at Solon Community Park. Nordonia struck first when Canzoni singled in the opening inning and never looked back, pacing a strong offensive outing. There were no new bulletin-board notices today. Stay tuned throughout the day for updates and event reminders across the region — we’ll keep watching what matters in our neighborhoods.
