A nine-year-old boy was struck and killed by a Jeep Wrangler on Peachwood Way in Green on April 17. Speed and impairment do not appear to be factors.
A nine-year-old boy was struck and killed by a vehicle on Peachwood Way in the City of Green on the afternoon of Friday, April 17, 2026, according to a release from the Summit County Sheriff's Office. At approximately 4:30 p.m., the Summit County Sheriff's Office and Green Fire Department responded to reports of a child struck by a vehicle on Peachwood Way. Investigators say a 2025 Jeep Wrangler had been traveling on Peachwood Way when the boy ran into the street and was hit by the vehicle. The child was transported to Akron Children's Hospital by the Green Fire Department, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Jeep was identified as an 81-year-old male from the City of Green. Sheriff Kandy Fatheree's office said neither speed nor impairment appears to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation by the Summit Metro Crash Response Team. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
