MACEDONIA, Ohio – The Nordonia Varsity Knights athletic programs dominated the diamond on April 23, 2026, as both the baseball and softball teams secured pivotal victories against tough Suburban League competition. The Nordonia Varsity Knights saw the baseball team edge out Kenston in a 4-3 thriller, while the Lady Knights softball squad showcased an explosive offensive performance to dismantle Wadsworth 19-7. These wins reinforce Nordonia’s standing in Northeast Ohio high school sports, highlighted by standout individual performances and resilient pitching. Nordonia Varsity Knights Baseball Edges Kenston in Late-Inning Battle The Nordonia Varsity Knights baseball team displayed incredible poise under pressure, defeating the Kenston Varsity Bombers 4-3. After Kenston took an early lead in the first, Nordonia fought back with RBI contributions from McClelland and a clutch triple by Ritchie in the second inning. The game remained deadlocked at three runs apiece until the bottom of the fourth inning, when a decisive dropped third strike allowed the winning run to cross the plate. Pitcher Kaminski earned the win, yielding only two hits over four and one-third innings, while Leitner stepped in to secure the save and finalize the Knights’ defensive stand. Lady Knights Offense Dominates Wadsworth With Nineteen-Run Surge In a high-scoring affair, the Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights softball team powered past Wadsworth 19-7, fueled by a massive offensive display. Paul was the catalyst for the Lady Knights, driving in four runs on three hits, including a towering three-run home run to center field in the fifth inning. Smeal also contributed heavily, matching Paul’s four RBIs with three hits of her own. Despite a shaky fourth inning where Wadsworth capitalized on walks to score six runs, the Lady Knights responded with a seven-run fifth-inning barrage to invoke the mercy rule. Lambes secured the win in the circle, navigating a tough Wadsworth lineup that managed only one hit against her. Standout Performance Highlights for Nordonia Varsity Knights The victory for the Nordonia Varsity Knights baseball team was a testament to disciplined hitting, with Wise and Ritchie each collecting two hits. On the softball side, the Lady Knights showcased aggressive baserunning, tallying seven stolen bases, with Paul and Nyce leading the charge.
