SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO— On any given day at Summit County Animal Control, there are about 85-90 dogs on average awaiting the next chapter of their life. Maybe they got lost on their way home and are patiently waiting for their owner to pick them up. Maybe they got loose, or maybe they were tragically left behind. No matter how these dogs ended up at Animal Control, they all have the same, single question they want to ask everyone: “May I Go Home with You?” That is why, for the month of May, Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro is launching the “May I Go Home with You?” adoption event. Now through May 31, adoption fees will be reduced to $28 (regularly $94). All dogs are microchipped, fully vetted (including bloodwork, flea treatments, intestinal de-worming, spay or neuter, and vaccinations), and ready to be taken home. All new dog owners will also receive a 2026 Summit County Dog License included in the adoption cost. Residents can call 330-643-2845 to schedule an appointment or visit the facility during business hours.
