MACEDONIA, Ohio – The Nordonia baseball team demonstrated its scoring depth this week, recovering from a narrow loss to Lake Catholic with a dominant 13-4 performance against Chardon. Led by a high-octane offense that amassed 13 hits in a single game, the Knights continue to prove they are a formidable force in Northeast Ohio high school baseball as they head into the heart of their May schedule. Tough Defensive Battle Against Lake Catholic On May 8, 2026, the Nordonia baseball team faced a challenging road matchup against the Lake Catholic Varsity Cougars, ultimately falling 5-2. The Knights struck first in the opening inning when Wolff doubled to drive in a run, and they reclaimed a 2-1 lead in the fourth behind a clutch single from Mitchner. However, the game turned in the bottom of the fifth inning. Capitalizing on defensive miscues, Lake Catholic surged ahead as two errors and a two-run single by Mitchell allowed the Cougars to pull away. Despite a solid five-inning effort from pitcher Leitner, who allowed only one earned run, the Knights’ offense was limited to just three hits by the combined efforts of Lake Catholic pitchers Stayer and Hribar. Explosive Offense Dominates Chardon Hilltoppers The Knights found their rhythm quickly in their next outing on May 11, 2026, dismantling the Chardon Hilltoppers 13-4. The Nordonia baseball squad opened the floodgates early, scoring one in the first, three in the second, and two in the third. The game was put entirely out of reach in the seventh inning, where the Knights plated five runs on three hits, highlighted by RBI singles from Ritchie and Canzoni. Key offensive contributors included: Nealon: 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs. Canzoni: Multiple hits and 2 stolen bases. Ritchie: Multiple hits and an RBI single. On the mound, Wolff earned the victory, while Kaminski provided stellar relief, throwing three and one-third innings of shutout ball with five strikeouts. The Knights also showcased their speed, tallying five stolen bases throughout the contest. Looking Ahead for Nordonia Baseball Following the 1-1 stretch, the Nordonia baseball program looks to maintain its offensive momentum. The Knights are scheduled to return to action with a highly anticipated matchup against Hudson. With the pitching staff finding its groove and the middle of the lineup producing at a high rate, the Knights remain a team to watch in the Nordonia Hills area.
