STOW, Ohio – The City of Stow has been named a top 20 finalist for the 2026 All-America City Award, a prestigious national honor that sets the stage for a summer defined by historic milestones and community expansion. This recognition arrives as the city officially breaks ground on "The AMP" outdoor performance venue and rolls out an extensive roster of Parks and Recreation programs designed to foster civic pride. From the 46th annual Firecracker Run to new sustainability partnerships, Stow is positioning itself as a premier destination for families and active residents in Northeast Ohio. A National Stage: All-America City Finalist Status The City of Stow was recently selected by the National Civic League as a finalist for the All-America City Award, recognizing the community's commitment to inclusive civic engagement. As one of only 20 cities nationwide to earn this distinction, Stow will send a delegation to Denver this June to present its "Stow Story." The application highlighted local successes such as the new Community & Senior Center and the Commission on Inclusion. This status underscores the city’s ongoing efforts to build trust and strengthen civic health, providing a backdrop for a summer of high-profile community celebrations. Building the Beat: The AMP Groundbreaking and Pop-Ups Construction has officially commenced on The AMP , Stow’s new premier outdoor performance venue located at 1680 Norton Road. Mayor John Pribonic led the "Dig Into The AMP" ceremonial groundbreaking on April 12, 2026, which featured a Touch-a-Truck experience and community festivities. To maintain momentum during construction, the city has launched the "Building the Beat" pop-up series. The next event, "Build the Buzz," is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, offering residents a chance to see the progress of the facility that will soon host regional concerts and theatrical performances. Summer Recreation and "Celebrate America" 250th Events The Stow Parks & Recreation department is preparing for a historic "Celebrate America! Celebrate Community!" parade in honor of the nation's 250th anniversary. Beyond the July 4th festivities, which include the 46th annual Firecracker Run at Holy Family Church, the city is offering a wide array of seasonal programming: Youth Sports & Safety: Registration is open for Safety Town, Summer Basketball (starting June 9), and Junior Bulldogs Tennis. Nature & Wellness: Residents can attend Earth Fest at Adell Durbin Park on April 25 or join "Self Defense IQ" classes starting May 5 at the Community Center. Active Agers: The new Community & Senior Center continues to offer daily programming for residents 55+, including "Coffee & Conversation" with the Mayor and weekly hiking groups.
