Jefferson Village welcomed a new officer to its police force at the start of Monday's council meeting.

Mayor Steven Sekanina opened the June 1 Jefferson Village Council meeting with the swearing in of new Patrolman Elijah Monroe. Monroe took the oath of office before council members, pledging to faithfully execute the duties of a police officer for the village and to uphold the constitutions of the United States and the state of Ohio. A New Face From the Cleveland Area Monroe joins the department from the Cleveland area and brings several years of law enforcement experience. He is eager to become part of the Jefferson community and looks forward to meeting and serving residents and visitors of the village.
