Hope & Healing Launches Summer Events Spotlighting Youth Safety, Healthy Masculinity, and Survivor Support

Community — Summit & Medina Counties

Annual Golf Outing and “Manosphere” Symposium Bring Community Together Across Summit and Medina Counties.

As conversations around online misogyny, youth mental health, and community safety continue to grow nationwide, Hope & Healing Survivor Resource Center (formerly known as Battered Women’s Shelter and Rape Crisis Center) is launching a series of June events focused on supporting survivors and strengthening healthy relationships across Northeast Ohio. During both Pride Month and Men’s Health Awareness Month, Hope & Healing is inviting the community to participate in events that raise awareness, encourage dialogue, and directly support survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Annual Golf Outing Returns June 16 Hope & Healing’s annual golf outing, one of the organization’s largest fundraisers of the year, will take place Tuesday, June 16 at Bunker Hill Golf Course (3060 Pearl Rd, Medina, OH 44256). Enjoy a full round of 18 holes with tee off at 8:00AM or keep it casual with a virtual golf experience starting at 9:00AM. Both options include raffles, games, and a delicious steak dinner. Every swing (or swing simulation) helps support Hope & Healing’s 24/7 crisis hotline, emergency shelters, housing support, legal advocacy, prevention education and outreach services. There is still time to register as a foursome or individual golfer or join sponsors like PCR Business Systems and Maynard Family Foundation at hopeandhealingresources.org/2026-events . Symposium Examines Influence of the “Manosphere” on Boys and Young Men, June 29-30 Hope & Healing Survivor Resource Center will host a two-day Summer Symposium titled “Shifting the Culture: Boys, Men, and the Manosphere” on June 29-30 from 9:30am – 3:00pm at East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation (550 S Arlington St, Akron, OH 44306). Presented in partnership with A Call to Men, a national organization helping to create a world where men and boys are loving and respectful, and women, girls, and those at the margins are valued and safe. This event is free, educational and guarantees enriching conversation about the “Manosphere,” a loose network of online communities promoting misogyny across social media platforms. Hope & Healing’s Director of Prevention, Julius Payne, explains, “We want to unpack this, talk about the narratives, how to create counter-narratives, and see what is impacting our youth today.” Anyone who has a direct influence on boys and young men (teachers, coaches, community members) is encouraged to attend and can even submit their own message about manhood to encourage and empower the next generation by emailing juliusp@hope-healing.org . Interested attendees are asked to register by June 21 at the following link.
