Community Pantry to Pause Services in December and January
The Greater Heights Church of Christ Food Bank at 2409 Willowdale Avenue, Cleveland (44109), will temporarily halt its operations during December and January. The closure aims to streamline resources, restock supplies, and prepare volunteers and staff for a stronger, more efficient relaunch in the upcoming year.
Reopening Scheduled for February 15
Patrons can expect the food bank to reopen on February 15, resuming its usual schedule of serving visitors every third Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those seeking assistance are encouraged to bring a valid photo ID and their own shopping bags. The pantry’s walk-in, first-come-first-served approach will remain in place, ensuring broad and equitable access to local families in need.
Expanded Services and Community Partnerships
Beyond basic nutritional support, the Greater Heights Church of Christ Food Bank partners with local organizations to offer a range of resources, including free tablets, cell phones, and rent and utility assistance. Collaborators such as the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, Operation Warm, CareSource, and Dedicated Senior Medical Center work together with resource specialist Lawanna Graves, providing holistic support that addresses the broader socioeconomic challenges facing the community.
Ensuring a Stronger Community Safety Net
By closing for two months, organizers and partners plan to refine operations, bolster inventory, and enhance the variety of services offered. This proactive measure reflects the pantry’s ongoing commitment to meeting both immediate and long-term needs, ensuring that when the doors open again, families can access a well-prepared network of resources, guidance, and nourishment.
