Twinsburg Varsity Tigers lost to Holy Name Varsity Green Wave 7-3 on Friday.
Holy Name Varsity Green Wave got on the board in the second inning after Maura Mihalik singled, scoring two runs.
Holy Name Varsity Green Wave extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI singles by Bailey Garlow and Layla Williams.
Mihalik earned the win for Holy Name Varsity Green Wave. The left-handed pitcher surrendered eight hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking four. A. Basel pitched five innings in relief for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers. The reliever gave up four hits and four runs (one earned) while, striking out five and walking three. M. Riley took the loss for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers. The right-handed pitcher went two innings, surrendering three runs on five hits, striking out one and walking one.
R. Velican drove the middle of the lineup, leading Twinsburg Varsity Tigers with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-4 on the day. M. Sweeney collected two hits for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers in four at bats.
Mihalik went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Kylee Blinky led Holy Name Varsity Green Wave with three hits in four at bats. Aubrey Stephens and Williams each collected multiple hits for Holy Name Varsity Green Wave. Mihalik stole two bases. Holy Name Varsity Green Wave ran wild on the base paths, amassing four stolen bases for the game.
Twinsburg Varsity Tigers will travel to Hudson Varsity Explorers for their next game on Saturday.
