Northfield Village Police Reports: Substance Possession Discovered During Wellness Check and More

Property Damage Reports Lead Week’s Police Activity

Northfield Village law enforcement officers responded to multiple property damage incidents last week, according to recent police reports.

A Kennedy Boulevard resident contacted police on April 29 regarding damage to their home that allegedly occurred when a garbage truck pulled a cable wire from the property. Officers documented the incident at approximately 7:10 p.m.

In another property-related call on May 1, officers assisted with a residential lockout situation on McKinley Drive. With the homeowner’s consent, police and fire personnel made entry to the residence after power outages left the resident unable to access keys for deadbolts. Officers noted the homeowner acknowledged potential damage prior to entry.

Drunk Driving Stop Results in Arrest

A routine patrol led to an impaired driving arrest during early morning hours on May 2.

At approximately 2:43 a.m., an officer observed a silver Kia commit a marked lanes violation while traveling southbound on Northfield Road. Upon initiating a traffic stop on Valley View Road SR 8, the officer detected alcohol and noted impairment indicators.

The driver subsequently failed field sobriety tests and provided a breath sample registering .195, nearly two and a half times the legal limit. The individual was released with a scheduled appearance at Stow Municipal Court.

Substance Possession Discovered During Wellness Check

Officers responding to a welfare concern on May 2 discovered illegal substances during their investigation.

Police were called to the area of Northfield Road and Ledge Road regarding an unresponsive male lying on the sidewalk. While preparing to transport the individual home, officers conducted a standard pat-down which revealed a crystalline substance and drug paraphernalia. Both items were confiscated for testing.

Domestic Incidents Keep Officers Busy

Two separate domestic violence cases required police intervention over the past week.

On May 2 at 11:22 p.m., officers responded to the Sunset Motel on Northfield Road following reports of a disturbance. Investigation revealed an altercation between a male and female, with the male temporarily leaving the scene before returning. After determining the male was the primary aggressor, officers arrested him on domestic violence charges. He was processed and transported to Macedonia Jail awaiting arraignment.

Days later on May 4, police responded to Maple Avenue where an argument between sisters escalated into physical confrontation. Following their investigation, officers identified one sister as the primary aggressor who will face domestic violence charges.
