Kyuramen, a rapidly expanding Japanese ramen restaurant chain, is set to make its Ohio debut at SouthPark Mall in Strongsville later this year.
According to Cleveland Scene, well-known local restaurateur Sheng Long Yu will be bringing the popular chain to SouthPark Mall in Strongsville, marking Ohio’s first Kyuramen location. Yu already operates several successful restaurants in Northeast Ohio, including Shinto Japanese Steakhouse, Kenko Sushi, and Lao Sze Chuan.
The restaurant is known for its distinctive interior design that sets it apart from other ramen establishments. Kyuramen features a notable honeycomb seating arrangement that stacks booths on top of each other in a unique pattern, attempting to replicate the feel of a “ramen alley” in a historic Japanese district.
The company’s founder, Gary Lin, developed the concept after extensive study of Japanese ramen, making multiple trips to Japan to taste different regional varieties before opening his own shop. What makes Kyuramen distinctive is its approach to offering various regional ramen styles in one restaurant rather than focusing on a single type.
The menu will feature several varieties of ramen including tonkotsu, shio, shoyu, and miso, along with Korean kimchi ramen and vegetable options. Beyond ramen, the restaurant will offer appetizers like shrimp tempura, steam buns, and yakitori, as well as rice burgers and desserts made in-house. Customers can also enjoy Tbaar brand bubble tea along with beer, wine, and sake.
The opening at SouthPark Mall continues the nationwide expansion of Kyuramen, which currently operates more than 50 locations across the United States with many more in development. The Strongsville location is expected to open before the winter holiday season.
