A devastating fire swept through a mobile home in Kingsville Township early Monday morning, claiming the lives of a pregnant woman and her two young daughters. The blaze, which occurred in the 5700 block of Wright Street, was reported shortly before 5 a.m.
According to the Kingsville Township Fire Department, firefighters arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames. Despite their efforts, they were unable to save the occupants.
The Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the victims included a 24-year-old woman who was six months pregnant and her daughters, ages 8 and 2. Family members identified them as Izzy Georskey and her children. Georskey’s fiancé was not at home during the tragedy as he was working the third shift.
Ashtabula County Coroner’s Office Chief Investigator and Administrator Amber Stewart stated that the bodies have been sent for autopsy. The coroner’s office is awaiting medical and dental records to confirm the exact identities of the victims.
The Buckeye Local School District has made counselors available at Kingsville Elementary School for students and staff affected by the tragedy. The district sent out a notification to local families after the fire.
A candlelit vigil organized by the district’s PTA is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. at Kingsville Elementary School to honor the victims. Community members have established a GoFundMe campaign to support the fiancé and help with funeral expenses, which has raised over $21,000 from more than 360 donations as of Tuesday afternoon.
The Ohio State Fire Marshal is currently investigating the cause of the blaze, which remains undetermined at this time. The investigation is being conducted in collaboration with the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office, Ashtabula County Coroner’s Office, and local fire departments.
The Kingsville community continues to offer support to the bereaved family during this difficult time.
