Vehicle Damaged by Road Debris on State Route 2 – May 14

A driver reported damage to his windshield while traveling on SR 2W from SR 615. The incident occurred around 10:02 AM when an object, described as a bottle, struck the vehicle’s windshield on the driver’s side. The driver believes the object may have come from a dump truck but was unable to provide proof. The report was filed for insurance documentation purposes.

Thefts

Gift Card Missing from Adult Residence Safe – May 8

Staff at Deepwood Adult Residence on Deepwood Blvd reported a $50 Bath and Body Works gift card missing from their office safe. The card, intended for a former resident who moved out in early April, was discovered missing when the resident’s mother came to pick it up on May 7. Management noted that neither the safe nor the office door was typically locked. The facility director plans to implement new protocols requiring the safe to be locked with limited access.

Phone Stolen at Mall Bus Stop – May 12

A man reported his green iPhone 11, valued at $200, stolen while he was sleeping at the Great Lakes Mall bus stop. The victim stated he dozed off while watching YouTube videos. When he awoke, his phone was missing. He attempted to call the device but it went straight to voicemail. A neighbor’s security camera was checked but did not capture footage of the theft. No suspects or leads have been identified.

Child’s Scooter Taken from Patio – May 13

A resident on Center Street reported that his son’s Ladped LP80 scooter, valued at $222.96, was taken from their back patio. The owner stated the scooter was present when he left for work at 6:00 AM but was gone when his son left for school at 7:45 AM. A neighbor’s security camera was checked but did not capture anyone in the victim’s yard. No suspects have been identified.

Funds Reportedly Stolen from Business Checking Account – May 14

A representative from Burton Industries on Division Drive reported unauthorized activity involving their business checking account. Multiple checks appear to have been involved in the suspected theft. The case remains under active investigation.

Counterfeit Bill Used at Auto Parts Store – May 14

An employee at Autobody Products Inc. on Plaza Blvd reported receiving a counterfeit $100 bill. The employee noticed the bill, dated from the 1980s, felt strange and had it verified at a local bank, where it was confirmed to be counterfeit and retained by bank staff. The suspect, described as a tall, thin male wearing black clothing, purchased a $23 can of Trim Black paint and received approximately $77 in change. The store has no security cameras and the employee was alone at the time of the transaction.

Domestic Violence

Two Arrests Made in Separate Juvenile Cases – May 8 and May 10

Police responded to two separate domestic violence incidents involving juvenile suspects. In both cases, the juveniles were arrested and appropriate charges were filed through juvenile court.

Adult Arrest Following Physical Disturbance – May 14

Officers responded to a report of a physical disturbance on Bellflower Road. Following investigation, Jennifer Barbish, 47, was arrested on domestic violence charges.
