Pour House Canfield to Close Indefinitely After Entire Staff Quits

Pour House in Canfield will shut its doors indefinitely after the entire staff quit without notice, forcing the family-owned restaurant to halt operations and seek new ownership.

The closure stems from the restaurant manager’s decision to leave his position to spend more time with family. In a show of solidarity, the remaining staff members followed suit, leaving the establishment without any employees.

“Not one single person gave my parents a notice or anything. So with the whole staff quitting and no time to find others, we have to shut down,” said Katie Berndt, daughter of the restaurant’s owners.

The sudden staffing crisis proved to be the final straw for owner John Berndt, who has decided to sell the business after years in the restaurant industry. According to his daughter, the longtime restaurateur “cannot handle the stress or anything on his heart” anymore.

The restaurant served its final customers on Thursday, May 22, before beginning the indefinite closure. While several purchase offers are currently under consideration, the abrupt nature of the situation means negotiations are still in early stages.

No timeline has been established for when Pour House Canfield might reopen under new ownership
