OHSAA Announces State Tournament Pairings for Boys Tennis and Volleyball

Historic 105th boys tennis tournament and third annual boys volleyball state tournament set for this week

The Ohio High School Athletic Association released pairings for two major state tournaments taking place this week, with boys tennis beginning its 105th annual tournament Thursday and boys volleyball holding its third state championship Friday.

Boys Tennis

The state tournament will be hosted at The College of Wooster, with the nearby Aspen Racquet Club available in case of inclement weather.

Boys Volleyball

Boys volleyball action begins Friday afternoon at Pam Evans Smith Arena at Wittenberg University in Springfield. The OHSAA took over the boys volleyball state tournament in 2023 after the Ohio Boys Scholastic Volleyball Coaches Association conducted it from 1988 through 2022.

Division I Volleyball Semifinals

  • Thomas Worthington (21-4) vs. New Albany (17-8) – Friday, noon
  • Cincinnati St. Xavier (22-2) vs. Cleveland St. Ignatius (23-3) – Friday, 2 p.m.
  • Championship Game – Saturday, noon

Division II Volleyball Semifinals

  • Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary vs. Cincinnati Archbishop McNicholas (24-1) – Friday, 4 p.m.
  • Macedonia Nordonia (20-6) vs. Mount Vernon – Friday, 6 p.m.
  • Championship Game – Saturday, 3 p.m.

The NFHS Network will stream all six volleyball matches with Chris Solwecki and Jackie Cline providing commentary.

Other spring tournaments have reached advanced stages, with track and field, softball and lacrosse at the regional level while baseball enters district tournament play.

Tickets for all OHSAA tournament contests are available at the association’s website. The OHSAA softball and baseball state tournaments will be broadcast on both the NFHS Network and OHSAA Radio Network.

Softball and Baseball State Tournaments on the NFHS Network and OHSAA Radio Network

The OHSAA softball and baseball state tournaments will be broadcast live by the NFHS Network (video streaming subscription) and the OHSAA Radio Network (audio-only, no cost). Radio stations can opt into affiliate status to have their regional and state tournament fees waived.
